Come “hang’ out and learn how to become a circus bad ass. NO UPPER BODY STRENGTH REQUIRED. That’s right, you don’t need to come prepared with a pull up. If you do have one, that’s cool but not mandatory. For the weekend workshop we will warm up with a favorite circus cardio-stretch that’s not afraid to get weird. Using an emphasis on body stability and core strength we’ll get our bodies ready to explore new avenues of movement and to get ready for aerial! The weekend will comprise of using the apparatus Rope or Corde Lisse, a popular vertical apparatus similar to aerial silks, however easier for beginner students to grip and climb.
You will learn how to climb both efficiently and gracefully. We will also explore inversions (knows as straddles) and work into tricks like catchers and Peter Pan. The classes will be student centered and will have a cap of 10 students to ensure time on the apparatus. At the end of each class, there will be a cool down and forearm/shoulder focused stretch and capped with an instructor performance!
What to Wear:
Wear long and tapered pants, bring socks, and a top which allows you to move your arms freely. It is highly recommended that you wear a top which could tuck securely and snuggly into pants to prevent rope burn. Bring a yoga mat or blanket for the grass and water to hydrate. Also.. wear deodorant!
